Learning Rubric: Assessment 3- Reflective journal: Diversity & Inclusion
A key to self-directed learning is reflection. Reflection enables the ability to examine situations in order to better understand the surrounding context and identify potential improvements for the future. This assessment task builds on assessment 1 and 2 to further develop your awareness and reflective learning ability while also assessing your understanding of the topics covered in module 4. As with assessment 1 and 2, you must write your journal entry in the first person and should try to be as open and honest with yourself as you can.

This Assessment is comprised of –
Part 1 – A conversation about Diversity with a class colleague as outlined below
Part 2 – A Reflective Journal based on that conversation using the Guiding Questions After completing the Learning Material on Diversity & Inclusion as outlined in the module
and on VUCA in Module 4.2, and attending the Week 7 workshop “Better Conversations at Work” either select a class colleague or your learning facilitator will allocate pairs. Aim for your class colleague to be different to you in at least 3 of the below social identify indicators.
Create a 5-7 minute audio podcast with another student (you will need to include a link to this podcast in your Assessment 3 with each student having 5-7 minutes.)
Find three ways that this student is different to you in terms of social identity. These could be based on any of the following that you are both comfortable with discussing:
Indigenous – Aboriginal & Torres Strait Island background
Marital status / Relationship status
Start the conversation by stating your names, date and time of the recording, and then ask each other these Guiding Questions:
Tell me about your social identity.
What are you most proud of having achieved in your life?
What obstacles have you had to face?
Professional identity – what industry do you work in / or hope to work in?
What should your future employer know about the skills you have and your story to help build a diverse and inclusive workplace in a VUCA world?
