Cause and effect, or causal analysis, is the study of what happens and why it happens. It is rooted in our fundamental need to know “why” and “what if?” Our desire to make connections between the events of our lives drives us to understand reasons and results, and analyzing cause and effect relationships deepens our understanding of the world we live in.

Sufficiently narrow topic
4-6 Pages
MLA formatting guidelines (12 font, Times New Roman, double spaced)
Avoid first and second person POV
Clearly stated thesis at end of intro paragraph
Organized body paragraphs that begin with topic sentences and contain relevant supporting details
Use a minimum of three sources cited using MLA citation guidelines
Complete a Works Cited page (not included in four-page total)
