I was a Game Day Intern for the Marketing Department for University of Louisville athletics.
The Marketing Office works as a liaison between sport administrators, media relations, the ticket office and Learfield/Louisville Sports Properties to coordinate promotions and increase brand awareness of the Louisville Cardinals. The department coordinates all promotions, ticket sales, advertising campaigns, event operations and game production functions related to Louisville Athletics.
Marketing Intern include, but are not limited to:
Learn to develop and execute a marketing and promotional plan for assigned sports
Gain the ability to brainstorm and execute game day strategies (e.g. sponsorship fulfillment) across multiple sports
Develop ability to interpret trends and issues (e.g. fan base/attendance) and think critically
Develop ability to use game production software for Sound Director, and ANC and Daktronics videoboards
Gain knowledge of event management: orchestrating a plan and seeing it through to the end
Develop ability to work with others in a professional setting
Develop ability to brainstorm and problem solve under fast paced conditions
Gaining understanding of social media (e.g. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) as an effective marketing tool
Develop ability to use Adobe Photoshop to create marketing assets
