Remember post your first response by Friday, to give your classmates an opportunity to respond by the Sunday, midnight deadline.
Please read the Career Decision Making PPT for this week before posting your answer.
Let’s practice how to integrate all the assessment results with the world of work to find a suitable career, and how to apply a decision making model. Read the following scenario and answer the questions:
James took the MBTI, Career Interest Profiler, Work Importance Profiler, and Personal Values Assessment. He learned that he is an ESTJ who tends to be practical, decisive, and one that organizes projects to get results in the most efficient way. As an ESTJ, he has a clear set of logical standards, systematically follows them, and wants others to follow them as well. He also discovered that he is interested in careers that come from the science professional, business professional, and communication areas. James’ workplace values are investigative, orderliness, and leadership, while some of his personal values include family, wealth, and status. James wants to work in an organized environment that deals with people, where he can be passionate about his career.
1) What career or career fields would support his assessment results and provide a job he would love?
2) Using the Pros and Cons Model (you must list the pros and cons for each career you suggested in your answer to question #1), which career from your previous answer above should James select? Why?
This posting will be graded. Remember it is worth 10 points – 5 points for your answer to the instructor’s question and 5 points for responding to at least one classmate.
This matching process is what you want to do with your assessment results and the career research you are conducting. Integrate your results and findings to come up with a list of careers you may want to pursue. Then, use a decision making model presented in this week’s PPT lecture to decide between your choices.
