Each student must submit a 3-4 page (double-spaced) book review of our assigned text Harriet Tubman: The Road to Freedom, by Catherine Clinton. Students must read the entire book. Students must summarize the book, outline its scope and main arguments, discuss sources, and connect the text to the main textbook by Eric Foner. The best submissions will offer an argument (thesis sentence) and place Tubman in the context of the material provided by Foner. The opening sentence of the paper should be an argument (thesis). Students must provide citations where appropriate (whenever you quote or paraphrase other sources) either as footnotes or in-text parenthetical. Students will be graded on both content and presentation, so spelling and grammar count!
