Project Report
The project report should begin with an introduction and an overall discussion of the data set and definition of the variables, including their units of measurement. This section should be labeled Introduction.
Then in a section labeled Descriptive Statistics, provide at least two graphs and a table that present the descriptive statistics (e.g., mean, median, mode, standard deviation, range, frequency, percentage, etc.) obtained from SPSS for the selected variables in the data set. This section should include a paragraph addressing each variable’s analytical results and their interpretations. You may include your cleaning criteria in this section.
The next part should be labeled Preliminary Analysis and will include your initial hypothesis/research question regarding possible relationships between the variables. No statistical analysis should be undertaken at this point in the process; rather this section outlines your initial thoughts regarding the possible relationships present between the variables. A paragraph should be included in the report outlining your selection of independent and dependent variables, as well as the logic behind said decision.
The fourth section of the report should be titled Results and will include the results from the inferential statistics. Provide an appropriate table that summarizes your findings. Also, summarize the test results in a paragraph by using the appropriate values. You may include any violation of assumptions that are associated with your analysis. Also, effect size can be included and interpreted.
The last section of the report should be titled Conclusion. In one or two paragraphs, discuss the implications for public health research, policy, or practice (if any) that arise from the statistical results. Add any other comments or insights that you gained through the project in this section.
Attach the computer output as an appendix to the report. This includes the output from the descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The final report (excluding the appendix) should be in the range of three to four (maximum) double-spaced, word-processed pages, including any tables and graphs, with one-inch margins and 11- or 12-point font. Failure to follow these directions will result in a lower grade on the project.
Additionally, this paper will be graded for proper citation. Citation forms that are acceptable are APA, AMA, and MLA. If your field of study uses a different citation format, please come and talk to me before submitting your report. Finally, if plagiarism is found within the paper, academic sanctions will be levied. Therefore, please familiarize yourself with IU’s plagiarism rules and regulations.
